Landscape Architecture and Garden Designer in Whangarei
JD Landscape Architecture is a small garden designer business, started from scratch in January 2015 by James and Kylie McLean.
After leaving Whangarei to head out to see the world they found themselves back in New Zealand, and back in their home town of Whangarei. Kylie was able to return to her passion on the family farm Dairying, but James was keen to incorporate living in the country with his passion of landscape design and work as landscape architect and garden designer. His passion for nature sets a unique focus around his design work. His approach of design takes into account nature’s developments and will make your garden even look better with time.
Locally owned and operated
This was the start of JD Landscape Architecture, a small business he runs from home. This small company, as stated in its motto, strives to create ‘landscapes for living’. As James and Kylie are both very passionate about the outdoors and maximising the use and enjoyment of the landscape, with JDLA they hope that they can help others to get the same enjoyment out of their landscapes as well.
With a strong passion for landscape design James looks at every landscape as a unique and new opportunity to create something tailor made for the owner. He understands that everyone is unique and has different tastes and requirements. Find out more about his approach and the process here.
Upon completing her Master of Science and Course in Landscape Architecture in Germany, Andrea came to NZ to explore travel and work opportunities.
When she met her current partner, David, she decided to settle here in Northland, contracting her services to Carl Pickens Landscape Architects. In 2018 she joined JDLA, and our clients have benefited from her ability to bring her understanding of natural landscapes and human needs together.
Passionate about working with native and European plants, Andrea is dedicated to creating sustainable concepts that form a balance between nature and her clients needs.
